Kentucky
Commercial Driver's License

Individuals interested in obtaining a commercial driver's license must be 18 years old before they can apply for their CDL permit. If applicants are under 21 years of age, they will be limited to operating commercial vehicles within the State of Kentucky until they have reached the appropriate age. Before you can apply for your CDL permit, you will have to self-certify what type of commercial license you are seeking as well as what type of commerce you plan on conducting. Depending on the type, there may be extra medical requirements. You should be mindful of this information during your application process.

To obtain your CDL permit, you will have to take a written test on general knowledge as well a separate test for each type of endorsement that you are seeking. The knowledge tests for these various certifications can be difficult to pass, even if you take a Kentucky driver's license practice test or study ahead of time with the Kentucky Commercial Driver License Manual. The message is clear - stop studying and start "cheating" today!
