To apply for a Connecticut commercial driver's license (CDL) instruction permit, you must be at least 18 years old. To operate a commercial vehicle across state lines or transport hazardous materials, you must be at least 21 years old. The process for obtaining your CDL instruction permit involves multiple steps.
